Great Value

When compared to the cost of sports and many other activities, there is no doubt that Cub Scouts delivers great value to its members! Costs include BSA membership fees, Pack Dues, uniform costs, and nominal activity fees. One of the most frequent questions we are asked by parents of perspective Scouts is “how much will it cost?”  That’s an excellent question to ask. Pack 325 functions as a year-round program and accepts new Scouts anytime throughout the year, some of the costs will depend on when you join. Below is an attempt to explain some of the costs and we are happy to answer any questions you have. We hope that after you have reviewed this information, you will agree that Cub Scouts is a great value.

Boy Scouts of America Fee

When joining Boy Scouts of America, you will submit your child’s application online through the BSA application website. During the application process, BSA will collect pro-rated registration fees for the remainder of the calendar year and an optional Scout Life magazine fee. These fees go directly to BSA and and not Pack 325. Effective August 1, 2022, the yearly BSA membership fee is $75.00 for each youth. This membership fee is collected on an annual basis and will be pro-rated depending on when you join during the calendar year. For youth that are new to Scouting, there is also a one-time new member fee of $25.00.

Pack 325 Dues

The BSA membership fee discussed above is paid directly to the national organization. The Pack does not get any part of those fees. Accordingly, the Pack requires the payment of Pack Dues to help offset the costs of awards, programming, adult volunteer membership fees and various Pack activities. Pack Dues are paid on a school year basis, consistent with our Pack operations. Dues for the 2021-2022 year are as follows:

Single Child:  $125

Each Additional Child:  $115

The Pack requires payment of $50 per child at the time of registration. The remainder can be paid by December 1st. Please note that the Pack does not want any family to choose not to participate because of financial issues. If cost is an issue, please use the form on our Contact page to let us know. There are resources available to assist with the costs of Scouting and we are happy to discuss alternative payment arrangements.

Scout Life

Scout Life is an optional monthly magazine published by Boy Scouts of America and is geared specifically toward Scouts. Each issue has various articles that appeal to Cub Scout and Scouts BSA aged youth. There are wholesome comic strips, funny jokes, games, contests, fun and interesting articles about the outdoors, gear, hobbies, and projects. At only $15/year, this is a great value and is highly recommended by our Cubmaster.

Scout Life subscriptions run annually. For new Scouts, you will have the option to subscribe to Scout Life during the initial registration process. This will cover the subscription for the remainder of the calendar year. For returning Scouts and new Scouts registering August – December, Scout Life subscription fees for the following calendar year must be paid to the Pack by December 1st.
